Over last few decades, people started to use computer to be an assisting tool to solve human・s problems. As time goes by, computer has now become a machine that all human can・t live without. Just take a very simple example, what if there is no computer, can you travel on the MTR with your octopus card? Can you use the lifts in the stations? Can the trains run underground without a computer controlling system? The answers are absolutely not! The reason why computers are widely used is that, they bring more benefits than problems to our society.
Firstly, using computers in the business fields can increase the productivity and efficiency of the company・s work. Since all repeating and dangerous procedures can now be done by a computer with the aid of special software. Not only it helps reduce the cost of operating the business, but also rise the revenue earned from the high-quality goods. Although employing computers instead of human workers resulted in higher unemployment, the government has shouldered its responsibility to organize retraining programs for those unemployed workers. Also, according to the latest news, most of the universities in HK have now already added more resources and paid more efforts in the Faculty of Information Technology. So, I deeply believe there will not be any serious problems in the very near future.
Secondly, for schools, the use of computers can surely help to have lively lessons. Thanks to the wide varieties of information in the Internet, teaching materials used in the lessons can be enriched and informative. As a result, students can absorb a wide range of knowledge in a computer-assisted room rather than a boring chalk-and-talk classroom. Although, a recent survey found that, some students are easily distracted by the computers in front of them, with software that has the ability to lock the students・ computers, the minority will not be tempted to play computer games during the lessons anymore and teachers can still have their lessons undisturbed and smooth.
Finally, for the whole society, although we could live with no computer few decades ago, civilization and evolution of the society are still going on, we should not take a backward step, instead, we should try our new breakthrough bravely. Since every new idea is always getting its way on the critic stage before it can be widely used. The same case happened in using computers. What if we didn・t try to use computers, would there be any efficient transportation system? Could we get so much information on the Internet? Could the architects build sky-reaching buildings? Internationally, could we get the world・s news immediately? I bet no one would like to sacrifice the right to use computers with inconvenience.
All in all, computers have already taken a vital role in society and this is only because they bring more good than bad to the society.
