What happens at the beginning of the story? in the middle of the story? at the end of the story? Where does the story take place?

NAME OF THE BOOK:    THE ENCHANTED WOOD

PUBLISHER:             MAMMOTH

AUTHOR:               ENID BLYTON

Ever since I was 6, or five-and ˇVa-half, to be exact, I have been reading books written by Enid Blyton. ˇĄThe Enchanted Woodˇ¦ from the Faraway Tree collection is about the sixtieth-something book of Enid Blyton that I have read. But after I had read this book, I did feel very much ENCHANTED! Hereˇ¦s what the storyˇ¦s about.

Three children, the main characters, named Jo, Bessie and Fanny left their home town and moved to the country. There, they found an Enchanted wood right near their home. And that started their adventures on an old magical tree, named the Faraway Tree.

The Faraway tree is the entrance to fairyland-like lands. When Jo, Bessie and Fanny went up the Faraway Tree, they met a lot of fairyfolks such as Silky and Saucepan Man. They became good friends with them, and they explored the lands together. They sometimes got into trouble, not to mention narrow escapes!

The place I really recommend is when they went to the land of take-what-you-want, Moon-face failed to do what he was supposed to do. The land passed the Faraway Tree and when the others came back, they were so desperate that they couldnˇ¦t find the entrance back. Suddenly, Jo found a goblin aero plane and took them on their journey home. On the way, the plane was exhausted and they had to land in Dame Slapˇ¦s school and got in a dreadful fix. Then, they used a trick to make Dame Slap lock her own door and trap herself, so as to avoid her slaps. Luckily, they flew away back to Faraway tree.

This book is full of Fairy-folk adventures, little folk and magic, which none of the above is believed by my mother, nor my father. But I surely believe in the fairy-folk and I absolutely envy Bessie, Jo and Fanny on their adventures. Sometimes, when Iˇ¦m not working nor playing, I just sit on the sofa fancying Iˇ¦m the lucky one to have a ride on the slippery slip, going on a trip to the land of Take-what-you-want, the land of wishing, the land of goodies, etc. Or maybe going to Bessieˇ¦s birthday party in the birthday land!

And I adore the books of Enid Blyton. It is so lovely to read a fairy-tale story when I want to daydream. Itˇ¦s the perfect world for me! Actually, in ˇĄthe Enchanted woodsˇ¦, the main characters are Jo, Bessie and Fanny and the fairy folks. In the second and third books, which Enid Blyton wrote in the collection, ˇĄthe Magic Faraway Treeˇ¦, and ˇĄThe folk of the Faraway Treeˇ¦, the childrenˇ¦s cousins came to stay and there are more adventures. The sparks fly in those chapters! I think the whole Faraway tree collection is really exciting. Each adventure is more magical than the other. And do you know what I really love from this book? Apart from the fairyland, magic and stuff, I like the lovely peaceful feeling it gives me. Instead of making me overexcited, I feel relaxed and involved at the same time. Also, I donˇ¦t like the kind of books that make me feel like having a bath full of words, letting the words wash over me. I like to suck in the story and dream about it all day long. And ˇĄThe Enchanted Woodˇ¦ does make me feel so like a sponge, taking in every word. So, I do strongly recommend this book to all the world, especially when the world seems to be so messy and war seems to start at any minute. Itˇ¦s time to have a moment of peace in our dreamland!
